Rie was born and raised in Hiroshima until she moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18.

While in Los Angeles, she was exposed to various styles of music, developing her signature organic vocals and mellow sound as a singer-songwriter.

Through FRIENDSHIP. - a music distribution service operated by Hip Land Music - she regularly releases works with a sound rooted in Neo-Soul and New Wave. Among her many collaborations, "Still" featuring rapper Wez Atlas became a smash hit, landing on numerous playlists. In 2021, she released her debut EP "Inside Out" followed by her first full-length album "On My Mind" in 2025.

Her presence in the music scene continues to grow, having been featured four times on the covers of Spotify’s official playlists Soul Music Japan and Women’s Voice.

She has actively collaborated with artists both in Japan and abroad. She released an EP "Here With You" produced by rising UK producer edbl (Ed Black), followed by "In My Dreams", her second edbl-produced EP through the European label Stereofox. "Here With You" was also released in CD and vinyl LP formats. Her global collaborations extend to Dutch artist Soulization, Japanese DJ duo Snowk, and Nenashi from Origami Productions, among others.

In addition to her music career, she is also recognized as a radio DJ. She hosts "Sunset Easy" airing every Sunday at 7 PM on Shonan Beach FM, and has also worked as a DJ for FM Yokohama’s Kanagawa Music Land - Sprout, showcasing her versatility as a DJ.
